Most husbands think their wives are very special, and I am no exception. To me, my Swiss Miss is extraordinary. She is beautiful, intelligent, and always uplifting. I wanted to do something very special for her.
I decided to write this book encompassing our all our many years together, complete with many photographs showing us in various stages of our 58 years of marriage. How we met, our courtship, marriage, our growing family, where we travelled, and our family adventures, and misadventures.
I had already written several books, three of which are also eBooks. In 2009, when I started to cut back on my medical practice I wrote, “Over There,” describing my almost 6 years of medical school in Switzerland where I first met Ursula.
Subsequently I wrote, “Over Here,” describing my professional life, right up to my retirement.
This was followed by a book called “Sleepaway, Memories of Deerhead,” my dad’s co-ed sports camp where I spent some 25 summers. It describes how the camp evolved, as seen through my eyes, from a very primitive boy’s camp in 1934 to one of the country’s top co-ed sports camps. The book is full of photographs from the Spartan like camp in 1934 through 1960s.
I then completed a book titled, “From Cub to Lion,” describing my public school and college education, along with collegiate adventures and misadventures. I graduated from Columbia College in New York. The college mascot is the Lion, hence the title.
Two years ago, I finished a book called, “Julia,” which is about our first granddaughter from her birth until her high school graduation, with beautiful colored photos of her early journey.
The genesis of the book Julia, was a letter she had given to me when she returned home for the weekend after her first month away at college.
After completing her book, I was looking for something different. I subsequently wrote, “Stories from the Y.” True life stories of 12 of my fellow “Y” members with accompanying photos and documentation.
Professional reviews, by Reader Views, and by Rebecca Reads, of my very first book, “Over There”, states, and I quote; “This book is recommended for all, a must read and page turner.” The 20 plus reader reviews were all 5 stars.
My latest is obviously this book about: My Swiss Miss.
Writing helps keep my brain active and I do enjoy writing especially this particular book as I am reliving my own wonderful journey with “My Swiss Miss, Ursula.”
I hope the reader enjoys our journey.
