"Retiring from the practice of medicine after 50 plus years, I obviously had more time to spend with some of my avocations, such as photography, which I have been doing since I was a teenager and writing which I started in 2007.
I have completed 9 books. Over There, which describes my five years of medical school in Switzerland where the courses were not given in English as I’d been told but rather in French and German which I could neither speak nor understand. Over Here, a continuation of my professional career, right up to my retirement, and Sleepaway - Memories of Deerhead, a history of the summer camp owned by my dad, which I attended for some 25 summers.
The 4th is a niche book which tells the story of my early childhood, including my Elementary, High School, and my College days at Columbia College, in New York. The book is titled, From Cub to Lion. All of my books are fully documented including many colored photographs making it easier for the reader to follow my adventures.
Being a “Y”1 member for many decades enabled me to meet many fascinating people from all over the globe. I decided to document the life journeys of some of my fellow exercisers that were willing to share their adventures with me.
The Stories from the Y are inspiring, disturbing and some even comical. I hope you will enjoy reading about the different life pathways traveled by some of my fellow “Y” members."
The “Y” refers to the Mid Island YJCC in Plainview N.Y.
